My Baby Is Growing Up

These first three shots were taken last June...

I hate that I don't have any up close pictures of her looking at the camera, but you can tell how much she's grown! My baby is now one year old as of today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MISS HONEY!!!

Brides, Babies & Bears-OH MY!!!

Ok, so I'm just kidding about the "bears", but this is officially wedding/baby season. I told Marty that we didn't plan very well. Him being five years older than me, all his friends are having babies and my friends are all getting married. It's CRAZY! I'm the 'wedding planner' for a friend whose wedding is this weekend and it's just been nuts. A friend of mine from high school is getting married at the end of May. Her lingerie shower was last Friday. It turned out really well and we had a lot of fun. It's nice getting to see those girls I grew up with, no matter how much time has passed since we've all been together, it's just "comfortable". Here's a few pictures from the shower...

Good News...All Around

Well, my JoePa got to come home last Thursday. They thought that when they were released from the hospital they'd go stay with one of his two daughters who both live in Amarillo, however, they decided to just go straight home. We went and saw Thursday. On our way to Amarillo. I think they whole "coming home" wore Joe out a little which is to be expected, but when we saw him Saturday and then Sunday he was doing much better. I'm sure it will be a day to day thing based on how much active he is.

Easter we went to church with my parents and then went up to see JoePa & Gma. We didn't want to stay for too long, but it was nice to be with them on Easter. It's traditionally a big holiday for us with a wonderful Sunday service at their church, followed by a big meal, but this year, we just feel so blessed to all be together.

GMA & MOM

I promise, we weren't leaving Joe out. My flash was being finicky and the one I took of he and Gma didn't turn out.

In other "good news"...my best friend from high school, Keri, got engaged Thursday. Her fiance took her on a three hour scavenger hunt and then told her they were going to a nice dinner for two and then took her to a steak place where both sets of parents, three sets of grandparents, siblings, cousins and friends were waiting. Keri's sister, Kristen, did the photography for our wedding so she had taken pictures throughout the scavenger hunt and put together a slide show for everyone to watch documenting Keri & Lance's relationship and the whole engagement process. I am so unexplicably happy for them. It's just so encouraging when people you love find their soulmate! I know you two will be VERY happy. Congratulations, I love you both!

Things I learned from a six-year-old...

Last night, I treated my high school coach's son to dinner and a movie. His sister was supposed to come, but it's their spring break so she had gone to visit family in Okla. This family is near and dear to my heart. Coach Bailey was my coach all through high school and he played such a spiritual role in my life. His kids are wonderful and since Marty and I have been back in the panhandle I really haven't gotten to see them as much as I would like. So I picked Brady up after work. We drove to Canadian and ate at the Pizza Hut and then went to see Horton Hears a Who. These are just a few of the things I learned from Brady...

1. On Sirius Radio, Disney Kids is age appropriate, however, Kids Stuff is for children three and under. We were driving along and it was commercials on Disney Kids so I changed it to Kids Stuff and Brady proceeded to tell me, "Man, it's a good thing I'm not two anymore. I would LOVE this song if I was two." I laughed and changed the channel back to Disney Kids.

2. At the Pizza Hut we were sitting there and he said, "You see those bubbles in your coke? That's sugar. They're kind of white and sugar is white. And there's sugar in coke."

3. Towards the end of dinner I asked him if he wanted ice cream before the movie or candy at the movie. He told me, "Neither. I decided day before yesterday I wanna be strong so I don't want any sweets. I had some grapes and apples last night before I went to bed because I was hungry. And then I ran around the house last night to get some exercise."

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures. Marty was supposed to come with us, but he had a mini-disaster at the house, but I won't get into that on our blog.

Whoops...

I thought I could draft one of my posts and post it later after I got all the pictures added and it would post as the latest entry. This is not the case, so to read my latest post you'll have to scroll down a bit. Sorry about that. Have a beautiful, blessed day!

What's In A Name?

Prior to Marty and I getting married I was not excited about changing my last name. I'm an only child and a girl so my maiden name ends with me. And although, Cassi Shea Brown may sound simple, I have always liked my name and it's obviously how everyone in my life up until that point had known me. I really wanted to them to call my maiden name when I graduated from Oklahoma State, but we had already changed my name in the system after we got married so they announced me as "Cassi Rash". But, enough about that. You get the point.
I received an e-mail a few weeks ago that allows you to look up how many people in the U.S. share your name. I discovered I am the ONLY Cassi Rash in the nation and I kind of like that. In case you were wondering, Marty is one of two Marty Rash's, so I guess you could say we're fairly unique. There are 9 other Cassi Brown's in the U.S. and only 1,518 girls with the first name, Cassi. Brown is the 4th most popular last name in the nation. I didn't think the last name Rash was very common, but to my suprise, there are 11,598 people that share the last name, Rash. Just a little FYI.

Whirlwind of a Weekend

I had a very action packed 4 day weekend last week. I left for Oklahoma City Wednesday afternoon. I got to OKC and met my friend, Whitney, at her apartment. We went to the best little sushi place ever. A Tootsie Roll is my new favorite...so yummy!

Then we went back to her place and I met the second Little Miss Lily in my life. She's adorable. I played with her while Whit attempted to study.

Thursday Becky and I shopped all day and indulged ourself at the spa with pedicures. She took me to the cutest baby boutique. Everything in there was so different. I got my cousin's baby some little sock booties. One set is a pair of tennis shoes and the other a pair of cowboy boots. I called Marty and told him it made me so excited to think about when we decide to start our family. I think he's afraid I've caught the "baby fever". We've been talking about names lately and we have so many friends that are expecting...someday...Then we went to The Melting Pot, a wonderful fondue restaurant, for dinner in Bricktown. You get to pick your sauces and then you cook everything at your table. Oh my goodness...everything was delicious! We had filet mingion
, jerk seasoned beef, vanilla rum chicken, citrus pork, lobster tail and shrimp. And then for dessert we chose a snicker sauce that included: chocolate, carmel, peanut butter, chopped peanuts and bailey's. They brought out a plate almost as large as our dinner plate with all our dessert pieces on it. We had cheesecake, pound cake, brownies, rice krispies, oreo and graham cracker crusted marshmallows, strawberries and bananas. I told Marty we have to go back next time we're in OKC. Unfortunately, all the pictures we took at the restaurant are still on Becky's camera.

Friday morning I drove back to Texas. I met Mom in Pampa and we went on to Amarillo to check on Joe. I drove back to Canadian that night and got up the next morning and met my cousins in Elk City, OK at 11 a.m. One of my cousins is a true freshman at OU. He's actually getting to play quite a bit so I went with his parents to their last home game against Mizzou. It was a really close game. I even sported an OU hoodie. I know, I know...I'm a traitor, but I loved OSU basketball when I was there and now it's even more fun to watch OU because of Cade. His last name is Davis and he's #34. Look for him in the Big 12 Conference. He's such a talented kid, plus he's oober humble. I'm a little bit proud of him if you couldn't tell.

We went and ate Roadhouse after the game with some other cousins and then we drove back. I got to my parents house late Saturday night and we went to church with them Sunday. My cousins' baby shower was Sunday night so I left early that afternoon to drive back to Canadian. Here are Aubrey and I after the shower.

Needless to say, I'm exhausted, but it was well worth it.

Annual Childress Weekend/Quail Hunt

Well, I guess technically this is only our second year to attend the Childress weekend. The last time was two years ago right after Marty & I had gotten engaged. We always look forward to seeing everyone, though. This year the boys went quail hunting while the girls took it easy at the house. I hate that we didn't get any more pictures of us girls. I was the only one not with a little one on board. All the girls are adorable pregnant. I hope I'm half that cute prenant. We figured it up and next year there will possibly be 8 little ones running around. What a difference a year makes!

This first picture is of all the guys and their birds. The second is of Marty and his "HUGE" bobcat that he's attempting to make look bigger.

Sunday morning Susan made FABULOUS cinammon rolls. I caught Kristen enjoying one...or maybe two.

Marty & John Shuttlesworth after lunch Sunday.

Marty played with Roselyn before we left. I'm not sure she knew what to think of him.

Maybe it was the cowboy hat...

About JoePa...

Well, Joe made it through surgery fine. It's been kind of up and down since then. He is now in a regular room. We thought he might get to come home Tues. or Wed., but we found out last night that one of the sutures around his stomach is leaking. It's not abnormal with this kind of surgery, but he'll have to spend one to two more weeks in the hospital to see if it will heal itself. They're hoping that they don't have to go back in to repair it. Thank you for your continued prayers.
